I know my Thai food, and this is amazing. My boyfriend and I have tried Thai food all over Lake County and in multiple states and their food is head and shoulders above the rest. If you like Tom Kha, you will not be disappointed. We ask for it extra creamy with extra cilantro. The atmosphere is wonderful - the lighting is just right, they have Thai art on the walls, and the subtle music in the background is perfect. The staff couldn't be friendlier! If you like sushi, they knock that out of the park too! I have tried most things on their menu over the last three years and am never disappointed. Take this from a girl who has lived in Thailand and is a very picky eater!

Food is great, super busy lunch so service was slow. Really good Crab Rangoon. Reasonable sushi lunch specials.

Very poor service. Orders were mixed up. The food was okay. Would not recommend. I ordered pad tai and it was mostly noodles with a few pieces of chicken and very few veggies.

My husband and I LOVE this place! We eat here at least three times per month and the food is also delicious and consistent. They have great lunch specials and 1/2 off sushi and apps 3-5 during the weekdays. They are very reasonably priced and the staff is always super nice. The only negative thing I can say is during peak hours when the restaurant is full, the staff can seem to be a bit overwhelmed and the food takes a while to get to you. The last time we were here (yesterday) for lunch, it was busy but they seemed to have hired more staff so our food came out in a very timely manor. So, I think they are addressing the staffing issue which is great! I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a great meal at a great price. Also, this is a good place to dine for a casual lunch/dinner with friends or even a date. I promise you will not be disappointed!

This is the second time they have not paid attention to the details of my order. The first time I ordered a dish with peapods and there was only one. This time, I requested to have salad with one of the lunches instead of soup and asked that the names of who ordered each item was written on the item (This is an option on their ordering website). Neither of these requests were completed. It seems that there is not much attention paid to the details. The first time my dish with one peapod tasted pretty good. This time I ordered chicken pad thai and it was horrible. It was gummy and flavorless. I hope I can find a better place in the area.

Service was very polite and attentive. Can't beat half priced drinks-- different drink each day of the week. Crab rangoon appetizers were much fresher than I've had at similar restaurants. Sushi was decent, but not great. Overall, it was good for a quick, quiet date night dinner.

I love this place!! They serve great veg. Sushi rolls and all their Thai dishes are delicious. I have had most of their curries and noodle dishes and have never been disappointed. Always crowded during lunch time!

I come here if i want some chinese. Yum. They are so nice to me whenever i order to pick up they always give me free miso soup. If the employee knows me they do. One deduction is because of the price. But its okay.:)

We had delivery. We have eaten Thai from a lot of places, and this is just wrong. Selection was unlike any we've seen, the food sucked, they charged me $2 extra for 2 pieces of shrimp in the soup, and there was grease floating on top of the Tom Yum. I don't know who is cooking the Thai, but they have no idea what they are doing. There were jalapenos in the Pad Kee Mao and the noodles disintegrated to the point you could not eat them. The Pad Prik was 95% bamboo shoots. They also made me sign a ticket that was over $2 more than the online price, the one that was sent to my email. Worst Thai ever, and over $20 each. I would give it 0 stars if I could. Stay away from this place!!!!

One of the best thai places around....the food is awesome as well as the ambience....would highly recommend it!!

This place is Fantastic! It's a staple on our restaurants list. If you are a fan of Japanese Thai fusion you won't be disappointed. The sushi is always fresh & yummy as well as their dishes. Definitely quality over quantity. The one bad dish we've had is there teriyaki beef. Other than that, it's great!!

It was nice to find a good Thai restaurant in the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff area. Our area is a Thai food desert. We went for lunch on a Sunday. The food was excellent - both Thai and sushi. The service was friendly and attentive. Even though the restaurant is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, the decor was contemporary and pleasant. We will be back!

Great lunch option, they're good at both: Thai and sushi and have nice lunch specials. You always get a cup of the house soup for free at lunchtime!

  • Jake J.

Awesome food! Order here 3 times a week, at least. Thai food & sushi. All their drinks are good, too! Favorites: seared tuna and the pad see eaeiw(?). Can't go wrong here. Really nice people. Good margaritas too :) . All around great!

  • Ari A.

This is my go-to thai/sushi place in the area. Although the sushi is not the best, the lunch and happy hour specials are great! The online website to order is super easy and is one of the biggest draws for me ordering from there. The Pad Kee Mao is the best! Pad thai I wouldn't really recommend (doesn't taste fresh). They have some pretty fun drinks also. Highly recommend the soups!

Very impressed, we will definitely be back. The service was the best that I have received in years and my g/f and I eat out quite a bit. The food was also very good; we ordered Mongolian Beef and Pad Tai with chicken. For appetizers we ordered spring rolls and the chicken skewers. Also, I really couldn't believe how cheap everything was; especially considering that the restaurant is pretty nice inside, in a nice area/part of town, and the great service we received.

Great spot for sushi and Thai. I've eaten from here twice (delivery both times) and tried a variety of dishes including miso soup, fried rice, noodle dishes, tofu, and beef dishes. Everything is very flavorful and seems fresh. They have a great website that has a convenient order online option. Nothing better than getting great sushi delivered to your door!

We have eaten there several times and we love it. the service can sometimes be slow but the food is always good and hot and fresh. Very clean!

The atmosphere is very inviting. It's really, Bangkok-Tokyo. I came in during their happy hour special and got few makis and a glass of wine. Everything was delicious and service was excellent. Obviously around 5, everyone is getting off work; so there was a lot of To-Go's and they were quick about it. If I lived in the area, it'd be my ToGo Spot... One of the best part was my Mochi Ice Cream at the end, they give two pieces of mochis (Come On, that is heaven for my sweet tooth!). Their desserts options were Great and I could come back just for that. :P and some food and drinks. I'll be stopping by with the boyfriend, soon!

Man, I wish this place had been around when I was living in the LF/LB area! I had the terrible task of arranging dinner plans on a Sunday night for group that couldn't go too far from Great Lakes. I was not looking forward to dragging everyone to the Lantern (my back-up plan). BUT THEN I yelped for the area for tasty things that I like to eat and this place came up as Pad Thai! The combo of Thai and Japanese gave everyone in the group something good to order. We shared some sushi and fried tofu for starters. I was able to get my pad thai with chicken; it was in fact tasty but not mind blowing. I also had some of the green curry and Vegetable Deluxe, all were very pleasing to the tongue area. The banana lover dessert was pretty small to share, but otherwise well done. Some others at the table shared the mango sticky rice dessert, and that looked a lot more successful. I almost gave this place 5-stars, but that would just be relief at pulling off this meal with a group I was trying to impress. I really liked it. The price was good (especially for the area). My water glass was continually full. The wait time for food seemed a little long, but that could have been hunger/nervousness. Not amazing enough for me to trek up to Lake Bluff for, but if I happen to be in the area again, I'd hit them up for sure. Am a fan, would recommend.

I really really really love this restaurant. It is a cute small place in the strip mall that can be easily missed, yet it is a hugely popular restaurant in Lake Bluff. Since I live and work in this area I am a constant visitor here. Everything on the menu, that I have tried, tastes wonderful (My fav is Pad-Ki-Mao, and my boyfriend loves Noodle Deluxe) and is priced very well. The portions are good and their lunch specials are awesome. The last time I was here, I ordered Pad-Ki-Mao and it tasted slightly burnt. I didn't taste good at all so I let the manager know, and voila! I had anew plate with deliciously tasting Pad-Ki-Mao in front of me. She was more than happy to replace the dish for me. I was seriously impressed with the customer service. All in all a great restaurant. Definitely worth a visit.

Really poor service and included 18% gratuity Never asked if we would like drinks, rarely came to see if we wanted water, soup that was included with lunch came after main meal was served, even after all our food was done and half our group left we had to flag them down for the check. To top off the very poor service, they included an 18% gratuity. Food was acceptable.

Lunch in Lake Bluff is tough. If you like Subway or sandwiches from Dominick's deli you'd be happy as a pig in shit. If like me you despise Subway, you are just left with shit. So I was delighted to see that a Thai/Japanese place was opening right next to Dominick's and Subway! Seeing that the restaurant is new and it was the day after a holiday I decided to steer clear of the sushi and order some noodles. I went with the Chicken Pad Sie Eiw, Schuler went with the Beef Pad Sie Eiw, and the other David went with the Chicken Pad Ke Mao. We also started off with an order of Crab Rangoon. My Pad Sie Eiw was seasoned perfectly, but a few pieces of the chicken were a bit grizzly for my liking. The Crab Rangoon was well.... Crab Rangoon. It would be pretty hard to mess up deep fried cream cheese and imitation crab. I believe David #2 enjoyed his dish as well. All of the lunch entrees are served with a complimentary soup of the day. The interior is much nicer than you'd expect from a strip mall Thai/Japanese restaurant. The walls are painted in rich hues and decorated with more modern Asian accents. The space gets tons of natural light which always helps. The service was nothing special. Water glasses weren't always full and the check took a little longer than we wanted. Despite some of the knocks there aren't many other options in the area so we will definitely be back. 3 Lunch Entrees 1 Appetizer ---------------------- $30.00

We like the Thai food here a lot. It's high quality and the flavor is well-balanced. My husband ordered mussaman curry which was very tasty. I had ginger chicken which has a nice flavor. The portion is on the larger side. You definitely have enough to eat. They use nice cuts of meat and give you a good portion of it. The waiter was attentive and very friendly. We will definitely be back. We didn't try any sushi or rolls. But from what I see at other tables, they look really good. Will try that next time.

Horrendous Service! We ordered our food right away and were never offered drinks. Our meals all included soup, so we asked about 30 minutes after we placed our order if the soup would be out soon. The server responded with a dirty look. About 5 minutes later our meals came out. We then inquired about our soup again and it finally arrived midway through our meal. The food itself was decent. After we were done we sat with empty plates and half our group gone for about 15 minutes before we grabbed an employee (not our server) to get the check. To top it all off they stuck an 18% gratuity on the bill for our group of 6. None of us will ever be going here again.

I haven't gotten my food yet...ordered online an hour and a half ago. Called once and they said the driver was on their way. called again and they said the driver was on the way and they would give him a call. I ordered pad thai, small soup and small salad with ginger dressing. $25 with 3 dollar tip and $3 deliver. It better be the best soup salad pad thai I've ever had!

My spouse kept telling me about the wonderful lunches he enjoys at this establishment. Last night proved to be as good as he rates it. I had chicken and onion...Lightly breaded, perfect seasoning. He had shrimp with pan noodles. Wonderful! Service was attentive, polite, quick. The atmosphere is pleasant and it is very clean. The prices were reasonable and we had left overs to take home. A delightful place!

well for the area, i've been the most pleased. the place is classy, clean, doesnt try to be this cool hip asian place. keep it real, i like that. good lunch sushi deals, nothing spectacular but pleasing. i noticed they had a pretty good menu of specialty rolls. a friend ordered pad thai, and i noticed the dish looked unusual, being more 'saucy' than pad thai normally is...it had the wet look of chow mein rather than the drier look of yaki soba. dont know how it tasted however...anyhow in comparison to sushi thai and aha sushi, other local sushi spots, i liked this place for their impressive menu of specialty rolls. besides that its pretty standard.

Every time I come here, they would screw up my order. For example, I asked for their non-spicy Bangkok Fried Rice and it came out super duper spicy. WTH. Price = way over priced. Service = good. Parking = Plenty. Food = Yuck! Decor = good. Would I recommend this place? No Would I come back? Only when I need food and have no where else to go during exam week.

Great business lunch spot. Super friendly service - very attentive. Great lunch combos (e.g., lunch boxes can include sushi, hot dish, and a salad - lots of other options, too). A bit slow bringing the check, but totally accommodating when we asked for it. I don't think I really got the "extra veggies" that I asked for on my dish, but still yummy. I will be back!

I have a love/hate relationship with Bangkok Tokyo, it is almost like Sushi Thai's less popular sister. On it own, it is a pretty descent place but compared to places like it, it is just average. They need Gordon Ramsey to give them a makeover. Love the wait staff and owner but it just doesn't measure up.

The decoration of the restaurant was very nice, especially with the flowers. The waitress was very polite. We ordered a roll of "crazy", with two entree of thai food. The sushi was delicious, and the thai food was tasty. Overall, a very good dining experience for the price.

  • Jim P.

The food was pretty decent. We went for a late lunch and service was relatively OK. I can't blame the food yet...but my stomach did NOT feel well afterward. Sushi was bland but those that had the Pad Thai said it was very good.

I don't get it. I go to places like this for chicken and steak, usually marinated in teriyaki sauce. Don't give me fatty chicken and steak and expect me to come back. Spend the time to serve lean meat or lose customers, such as myself.

Good location but since this is the only OK sit down place in the area it's usually packed for lunch and early dinner. Good lunch selection but nothing really stands out from their menu. Dine in experience is really good and the atmosphere is beautiful. If u are ordering for take out make sure you give them an extra 10 minutes or so because pick up here always takes a while. If you are not in the mood to drive this is definitely an ok option in the area.

Went early evening. No wait, greeted soon as we walked in good touch. Place was clean and tidy. Smelled awesome. Dinner we had beef and broccoli and bento box. Good portions hefty, price somewhat high but given the neighborhood on point price wise. Tempura was cold and chewy. Otherwise food was worth mentioning. The reason for the 3 stars was atmosphere. Felt like a funeral. The music was worse than awful. They're good people trying to have you relaxed but felt more like a massage place than restaurant.

I am very disappointed in this place and how they handle a customer order gone awry. I placed a simple order of Fried Rice and Red Curry at 645pm through their online website, and was sent a confirmation saying my food would be delivered at 745pm. I call at 8pm, and they say that someone forgot to put the order in. I am a rational person, and understand mistakes can happen. So when they finally decided to make the food and deliver, they called and said that they cannot deliver since my address which is 20 minutes away from their store is outside their delivery area. So they just told me they were sorry. Now 3 hours after placing my order, I am still hungry and upset at how they would treat someone whose order they got wrong.

Food is ok if a little over priced. Service is awful though. Ordered three entrees and they each came out separately. Meaning the first entree and then 6 mins later the second and then 10 minutes later the third. So by the time all three of us had our meals two of them were cold. Been here a few times due to proximity and the service is pretty often bad. It's too bad as its only about 1/4 mile from my house.

We have ordered takeout and delivery from here a few times before, and the food is good usually with a few minor issues. Today was our first time eating in the restaurant and it was less than stellar. The service was slow and inept. My son and I each ordered a starter and a main dish. It took close to 15 minutes to get my soup - and only MY soup. Then directly following was my main dish "spicy basil with beef". And I mean DIRECTLY following, I had eaten maybe two spoonfuls of my soup when it was brought to the table. When I asked where my son's food was, I had both my starter and my main dish and he had nothing, I was told "it's coming, it's coming". And that's exactly what happened - both his starter and his main dish arrived together! What is the point?? I may try it once more, but most likely not for lunch. It was too annoying and disappointing, plus after waiting for ages to get any food we had a table that you could barely maneuver around in the end and we were pressed for time due to the slow start.

  • Anna B.

If I could give a half start I would. This is the second time I have been here and left us waiting for 45min. I was fed up with the service the first time but had been please with the portion of the food and it was good and fresh. Now I am just fed up here. It sucks because it's the closest to my wok but the service it terrible and they really screwed up me and my bfs order. They brought out my food 20min before his and didn't even ask if we wanted soup or salad and automatically brought soup. I then saw the server at the next table over ask "soup or salad" Also did not ask us what we wanted to drink and only gave is water. Junk

I walked in and was immediately impressed with the atmosphere. It was beautiful inside and the decorations were consistent and beautiful. Our waitress greeted us and sat us immediately. We were not ready to order and she cordially let us know that she was going to return which was not only acceptable but preferred. But then she forgot about us. It took her a bit of time to come back to us and only after she got a new table in our area did she realize that she forgot to take our order. The food was quick to come to us and was beautifully presented but they got a couple things wrong with the order. I also ordered the lemonade it was fresh squeezed and delicious but came in a small glass filled to the brim with ice and did not have free refills(also was not pre warned about this) The thai portion of the restaurant was delicious and well priced but the Japanese portion was really expensive and did not taste as fresh as ive had in the past. I eat sushi all the time and this was some of the most expensive. Our waitress actually forgot to check on us throughout the meal. I would have to give this place a second chance but overall i think its ok at best. Beautiful presentation of the food and atmosphere, could use better servers and prices.

Located in a strip mall, with plenty of parking, Bangkok Tokyo is not a bad alternative if you are craving for thai or japanese food. There are some better ones around the area. I ordered Chicken Pad Thai for take out. The portion is fair. For the price, it is a little less than usual. The flavor is not quite to my liking... I'm more used to my pad thai a little bit sweeter, and comes with shredded cabbage. My order had no cabbage with it at all. I remember they do have that when i dine in.. Maybe they just forgot? =( The noodles they use is a little skinnier than what i am used to. I can't say that the pad thai isnt good but i've definitely had better. Since this place is located around business areas, they are some times busy during lunch hours. My friend has gotten their Bento Box and that is something i would love to go back and try next time. The portion is not bad for the price and you get a variety of different things to eat. If you want good pad thai, i would recommend going to Thai Noodle Cafe or Sushi Thai. Both places have great pad thai that wont disappoint!

  • Eddie C.

PAD THAI came out with beautiful presentation. I appreciated that they used larger pieces of chicken unlike most places. It entree was moist with good texture (i seem to always get dry pad thai so this was a welcomed surprise). The MISO SOUP was typical but the nice bowl it was served in made it more special. Beautiful decorated dining area that was very clean. Staff is friendly. They seem to know many customers by name. I dont know how their Sushi or other entrees are but PAD THAI gets five stars

I like this place for several reasons. One of the first reasons being that it's close to school. Very convenient for quick breaks. I also like this place because of the free parking. The interior is pleasing to look at - so zen and peaceful. It gives a very modern Asian feel to it. The food here is awesome too. I usually get sushi or the Tom yum soup with udon noodles for a very reasonable price. I also tried the tilapia fish with peanut butter sauce. Awesome! Filled with flavor and it's just beautiful. The price is quite reasonable. I'd say 10-15 bucks a person. For sushi, come for happy hour because it's half off so it's definitely worth it! Service is good too. The ladies are there to make sure you have a positive experience and check up on you several times. Recommend!

A hidden gem. We love this place. An upscale vibe tucked away in a corner, but the food is superior. Prices are moderate. Try the house salad-believe it or not, it is truly special. We get maki rolls, and pad Thai and whatever else strikes our fancy.

Ordered the chicken satay and the Mongolian. The peanut sauce on the satay was delicious and the Mongolian was nice and spicy. I only did the take out and the food was nice and hot even though I had a long drive. The people complaining about it being too spicy don't understand Thai food. Plus it has Japanese options, 5 stars.

The ambiance is nice, bathrooms clean, decor interesting and painted Japanese prints and Thai iconography on the walls. I rated it a three because a few of the dishes were not well received by the company I was with.

I came here with a friend for the happy hour special. On weekdays, they offer rolls and appetizers for half off from 3-5pm but the menu is quite limited. The rolls were decent, nothing special, and five small pieces definitely would not be worth the full-price value. The shocker came at the end of the meal when we saw both of us were charged a 20% gratuity service fee. While it's understandable that a restaurant can automatically charge parties of five or more 18% tip, there were only two of us, and we were charged 20%! A tip is something a customer decides, not the restaurant!

Delivered right to my room door (an extended stay hotel). I had the Santafe and Peachy sushi rolls, both of which were tasty. Great for a lazy day when you really want sushi!

My wife is Thai, so we have eaten Thai food in Thailand and all over Chicago. The dishes hear are basic. They do not have the balance that gives good Thai food the kick. Sour, sweet, salty and spicey. Half the menu is basic Sushi. We have been here over ten times because there are no Thai food places near fort Sheridan. The place is very very clean. The wait staff is nice. The male owner can be grumpy. They have good drink specials during the week. After living in Bucktown for 10 years we got spoiled on all the different Thai food options.

Bangkok Tokyo has a wide variety of Asian cuisines that you can choose from! Of course, it is not the most authentic dishes, BUT it still tastes okay considering the location and availability of the appropriate herbs and spices. Parking is readily available and there is plenty of tables to sit so there is no wait time. Regarding the food, I've tried the: 1. Pad Kee Mao with Chicken ($10): Stir-fried spicy flat rice noodles with choice of meats, carrots, bean sprouts, pea pods, baby corn, hot pepper, bell pepper, basil leaves and egg. Ack! This was way too spicy and too oily! This was overkill and I can sort of handle spiciness. I couldn't finish my dish :/ 2. Panang Curry with Chicken ($10): Brown curry with coconut milk, bell peppers and basil - quite flavorful and well balanced! Many of my friends like this dish~ 3. Pineapple Curry with Chicken ($10): Sweet and sour curry in coconut milk and sweet peppers - I really like the balance between all of the flavors. 4. Sesame chicken ($10): marinated and lightly battered chicken drizzled with mango/orange,tangerine, garlic sauce - This was well prepared, crisp chicken with rice which was nice and tangy. 5. Chicken Pad Thai ($10): Stir-fried thin rice noodles with choice of meats, bean sprouts, tofu, scrambled eggs, peanuts and sweet & sour tamarind sauce. I was never a huge fan of pad thai except for Cozy Noodle, but this tasted pretty okay. I feel like the food was overall A-OK and slightly overpriced because each entree was about $13 (with tax and tip). In any case, I still want to come back to try their happy hour some time in the future!

I ordered a salmon sashimi, spicy tuna roll, and panang noodle lunch special for pick-up. I just finished the salmon and spicy tuna, which tasted surprisingly fresh and delicious. I would give that 5 stars on its own, and definitely would order it again. The panang noodle dish, eh. The flavor of the panang curry is good, but the noodles are very mushy. The portion is ridiciously small for it's high price point ($9) and that's supposed to be a lunch "special". It's essentially a very filling meal for a child. I am not from the Lake Forest area so I guess people up here are fine with these kind of prices, since there seems to be a lack of good competition in the area. Overall flavor and quality of food? 5 stars for what you'd expect from a $6 spicy tuna roll and a $2.50 piece of salmon sashimi. 3 stars for the panang noodle special. The curry itself was good, but the chicken was salty and noodles were mushy. I should probably mention that I arrived to pick up my order on time, and still had to wait for my order to be completed. Just in case anyone was thinking that perhaps my noodles were mushy from sitting too long. Also, the $9 entree seems like that's the cheapest it's going to get. I've never seen a restaurant charge $1 extra for beef, not that I care to order beef. I'd give some of the other sushi try, but I'll pass on the other entrees.

I had a craving for Asian food all day. Whether it was Chinese, Japanese, Korean....didn't matter...I wanted rice and meat and spices. So here's the scene, I am driving home from class late one night, and my stomach is tugging at my arm to pick up the phone and search Yelp for the closest place. Driving from Grayslake to Lake Bluff, I knew there wouldn't be many options. There was a Chinese buffet in Waukegan, nah...a sushi place in Libertyville...nah...then there it was...Bangkok Tokyo in Lake Bluff!! How could I be so stupid! This place is less than a mile from my house!! You can guess what kind of cuisine this place has based on the name Thai and Japanese food. I knew it was time for some pad thai....chicken pad thai to be exact. The wonderfully nice woman picked up the phone and took my order like she knew me years. "It'll be ready in 15 minutes." Perfect. I timed it just right and must've picked it up right after they packaged it. When I got home, the noodles were hot and sticky, the chicken was cooked perfectly, and the spice was enough to let me know it was there but not enough to make me uncomfortable. The portion was HUGE too! It was definitely enough for dinner and tomorrow's lunch, but I ate the whole thing that night. I will 100% without a doubt, be going back to Bangkok Tokyo soon!

Bangkok Tokyo can be a quite enjoyable dinner destination, but order carefully. The Bangkok is good; the Tokyo, not so much. First of all, the location is odd. It's not only in a strip mall, it's in a hidden little court within it. The atmosphere in the restaurant itself is pleasant enough but a bit generic. My party had an appetizer of crab Rangoon, which wAs quite tasty with a nice sauce -- probably from a jar but better than most. The miso soup was typical. For dinner, I had the panang curry, which was perfectly flavored and quite a treat. The others with me both ordered teriyaki beef, which was not. The cut was particularly tough and it wasn't seasoned well at all. The rest of the bento box was quite good -- nice tempura, the sushi was good. Service was good, being very friendly and attentive. It does have a bar with a limited beer and wine menu. So for a tasty curry, it's a fine choice. For Japanese, run elsewhere.

We order here somewhat frequently and we simply can't any longer. Between late delivery, cold food and food so spicy its fiery, (when we ask for medium spice- and I like spicy food), I find I can't I return. Lake Bluff needs a good Asian place. Perhaps one will rent in the new Target development if we're fortunate.

I wanted to give it 3 stars but I feel there is a serious flaw in their menu. Pricey for small portions. Perhaps if I dined in I would get a decent serving size, but take out portions are just pathetic. I don't care for huge portions but I have never eaten their food and been satiated. The positive for them is flavor - really good food but not enough.

My father brought my partner and me in to Bangkok Tokyo for a post-Christmas lunch. The restaurant is hidden in a strip mall dominated by Dominick's Grocery. We were greeted by the owner Kip who was absolutely lovely and accommodating, while Ben was our friendly waiter who took good care of us. We were given a table in the back of the restaurant with plenty of lighting by the windows, with green tea to keep us warm. The table offered us a view of the restaurant which is nicely decorated with woven basket light fixtures, bright orange paint on the walls and golden ornamentation. The restaurant's cuisine combines Thai and Japanese sushi together in one large menu. There are plenty of choices and combinations---tough for those like myself who are indecisive. We started off with the lightly salted Edamame and perfectly rolled tofu Spring Rolls topped by a deliciously unique cinnamon sweet sauce. I always hunt out wonderful, reasonable lunch choices. B-T allows you to mix and match Japanese (Tokyo) and Thai (Bangkok) options with their lunch specials between 11 am and 3 pm. I was not in the sushi mood that day and went with the Bangkok Lunch Special combining a noodle dish (Chicken Pad Thai), Miso Soup, an appetizer (Chicken Satay, which had a peanut sauce that was out of this world), American Salad and Cucumber Salad. Quite a deal for under $12---all in a cute Bento box. I would love to return for their Happy Hour Monday through Friday between 3 and 5 pm offering half-priced sushi and appetizers, $2 domestic beer and $4 house wine. Quite a steal! Plus those who are Abbott Lab employees can show their work ID for a 10% discount when dining in, even though they earn more than all of us! If you can't dine in, you can always order online. B-T definitely surprised me with their flavors being located in the suburbs compared to Chicago and friendly service (contradicting other Yelp reviewers opinions).

Yum!! I had the tom yum soup, panang curry with tofu, and house salad with orange ginger dressing. I had this as carryout--after going to pick up the food, I would definitely eat-in too. The atmosphere is pleasant, friendly service, and walls are artfully decorated. Panang curry was nicely spiced-hot but not too hot. Salad had very fresh mixed greens and spinach, cabbage, carrots, and tomatoes with a creamy orange ginger dressing. It was a nice surprise because often these salads are all iceberg lettuce, but this was much better! Enjoyed the soup too-not too heavy on the coconut milk, but still with a nice flavor. I'll definitely be back.

Absolutely disgusting. I ordered the tornado roll, sesame salad, and a variety of sushi. First of all the sesame salad was comprised of wilted lettuce and no seaweed and on top of that when I opened the container a fly flew out! The fish tasted old or maybe it wasn't fresh and the tuna sushi looked bright red as if it had red food coloring on top of it. I was excited to eat here because my work place (Abbott) was ordering but I will never order from here again!

This place is definitely a lot more Bangkok than it is Tokyo...I ordered the Udon with Tempura and our server definitely did not speak enough English/Japanese to even understand his own menu. He ended up bringing me some kind of Tempura sushi roll, which had me utterly confused. When I tried to explain that it wasn't what I ordered, he then took it back, only to have another server bring me the same roll about 2 minutes later. My boyfriend ended up finishing his dish (some Thai chicken thing, don't remember the name) before I even got my original order. When I finally got the udon, it tasted....weird..almost like Tom yum soup but not. It wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't udon. The Tempura that came with it was interesting as well. There was so much batter on each vegetable that you couldn't even tell which vegetable it was! From what I tried from my boyfriend's dish, his was actually pretty decent. We also ordered the chicken satay, which was okay as well. I've heard good things about their curry, and if I were ever in desperate need of Thai food, I might come here, but for everyone else, for future reference, DO NOT order the Japanese food.

I was driving around in the Libertyville area when my tummy started grumbling. I opened up my Groupon Now app and saw that Bangkok Tokyo was not too far. So I bought it and headed over. I was impressed with the cute little restaurant tucked into a strip mall. I did not have any problems with the service that other people mentioned in their reviews. My server was very attentive. They made one mistake and brought out my soup with mushrooms which I cannot eat. When I told the server, he apologized profusely and quickly brought me out a mushroom-less soup... it was yummy! The food was tasty and the portions were healthy. I ordered the Pad See Ewe and it definitely hit the spot. Even with a grumbling tummy, I had leftovers to take home. If I were in the area I would return, but I do not know if I would make the trip!

This place is quite deceiving at first. I came here during lunch hours from work and me and the guys were looking to get our hands on some sushi. Initially, it was hard finding the rolls on the menu as well as getting the specials card a little later but when we realized that there really was a pretty good selection of rolls I started to relax. As the name implies, this place has a combo of Thai food and sushi/ Japanese entrees but I can only vouch for the sushi. They start you off with a delicious soup broth that I have no idea what it is, but it's simplicity and tastiness is definitely a plus. The rolls were not that expensive and some of them were quite large. After a few visits here, these are my top picks: 1) Ommera: good combination of ingredients and a little spice and crunch to finish it off 2) Peachy: deep fried goodness in a roll. Exercise your jaw cus this one takes effort to bring it in 3)Anything on the special menu is usually good. You can also order online if you are so inclined. Service was uneventful and the wait was moderate but overall no bones to pick.

I ordered a bento box with salmon by telephone, and was told to pick up in 15 min. After I got there they made a bentox box with chicken. And I waited for another 10 min for my salmon. When I opened it after I got back to my place. Surprise! It's chicken again!

I work and live in the area and this restaurant never disappoints. Their lunch time specials are great. It's not the best Thai in town, but it is at least decent! The sushi is surprisingly good 85% of the time too!!! I personally prefer sushi Kushi in Lake Forest or Tsukasa in Vernon Hills. I especially love their pad ki Mao and the miniature egg rolls. So delicious. Sushi wise, they have this amazing special roll that has spicy tuna, sesame seed oil and fine crunchy fried Noodles in top; that roll is to die for! They do have a 50% of sushi from 3-5 pm, but I don't leave work early enough to take advantage of this deal!

A tastefully decorated thai restaurant tucked away in a strip mall in Lake Bluff, I am glad that I found this place through Groupon. I came here on a Monday at 5:30pm. Using a Groupon in restaurants or service establishments can be a terrifying experience these days, sometimes you will get a snarky comment from the owner or a sneer from the servers. But not this place, the service was attentive and friendly. The price is a little higher for a Thai restaurant in the burbs, but you do a slightly larger portion in return. I ordered Beef Pad See Eew, and it came in with the poportion of 60% noodles and 40% beef. Their fried tofu was a little bit too dry, but the dipping sauce was just right, not too sweet and over-powering with the tangy flavor. I am definitely gonna be back if I am in the area again.

2.5 Stars toward 2 due to stiff price for the food. I have been meaning to try this place for a while, and finally decided to try when I went to Dominick's. I got a lunch take out, a pad thai and egg roll. Egg roll was just ok, but pad thai was quite forgettable. It was bland and lacked certain flavor the pad thai usually had. I would have preferred thai express on Green bay at this point. Then, the price tag. The host (owner?) told me they just have upped the prices, which I thought was a bit stiff for the quality of food. I don't think I would miss this place much.

This place is Fantastic! It's a staple on our restaurants list. If you are a fan of Japanese Thai fusion you won't be disappointed. The sushi is always fresh & yummy as well as their dishes.

Awesome food! Order here 3 times a week, at least. Thai food & sushi. All their drinks are good, too! Favorites: seared tuna and the pad see eaeiw(?). Can't go wrong here. Really nice people. Good margaritas too :) . All around great!

I don't get it. I go to places like this for chicken and steak, usually marinated in teriyaki sauce. Don't give me fatty chicken and steak and expect me to come back. Spend the time to serve lean meat or lose customers, such as myself.

The ambiance is nice, bathrooms clean, decor interesting and painted Japanese prints and Thai iconography on the walls. I rated it a three because a few of the dishes were not well received by the company I was with.

Junk
